Ask Chris something else ↗At the game table
How many players can join?
Weekend games typically run with 3–6 players and ideally four. The original FAQ also mentions two-player games; individual-player dates normally need three players. Ask Chris about small groups or a solo booking.
What level does my character start at?
The standard starting level is 5. Depending on the adventure, your character may gain levels during the weekend. Use point buy for ability scores so everyone starts on a fair footing.
Which character options can I use?
Core and supplementary books are welcome, including the 2014/2024 Player’s Handbook, Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything and Volo’s Guide to Monsters. Feats and multiclassing are allowed. Ask Chris about any specific homebrew or Unearthed Arcana feature before using it.
What equipment and gold do I start with?
Each character has 1,200 gp instead of starting equipment or gold. Buy standard equipment at Player’s Handbook prices. Common magic items cost 100 gp; uncommon items cost 400 gp. Consumable magic items, except spell scrolls, cost half the corresponding magic-item price. Add the base armour cost for magic armour, and buy any spell components with a gold value. Confirm your choices with Chris.
Can I run the game for my own group?
Yes. You can bring your own DM when booking with friends; the same costs apply. Contact Chris to discuss the arrangements.
Can we customise the adventure or play another system?
Chris can work specific scenarios into a group’s adventure. He is most familiar with D&D 5e; other systems may be possible for an additional cost, with time needed to prepare.
What happens if my character dies?
After resolving the encounter, the group takes a break to discuss your options. These may include making a new character or exploring a creative alternative with Chris.
Meals & camping
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
Discuss dietary needs and food changes before booking. Menu changes may affect the price.
Can we cook our own food?
The shared kitchen has limited equipment and is also used by the farm, so independent cooking there is discouraged. You may bring your own braai, tools and cooking equipment. Discuss self-catered group arrangements in advance.
Can I bring a non-playing companion?
Yes. Meal costs still apply if they eat with the group. Talk to Chris about the arrangements before booking.
Is alcohol allowed?
Yes, provided it is moderate and does not affect other guests. Play will stop if drinking becomes a problem.
What facilities and power are available?
Water, a toilet, shower, communal kitchen and limited charging points are available. Bring your camping equipment and torches. Power is suitable for phones or laptops, not hair dryers.
Is there an alternative to bringing a tent?
There are two large safari tents, each sleeping up to two people, at R530 per person per night. Proper beds and evening lighting are provided, with the bathroom, kitchen and power nearby. Ask about availability and the complete weekend total.
Booking your weekend
How do I reserve a place?
Use a booking button to open a WhatsApp enquiry with Chris. He will confirm availability and arrangements. A 50% deposit reserves your spot. The new website does not take payments.
What happens if I withdraw?
The published deposit policy says the deposit is refunded if your place is filled. Confirm all terms with Chris before paying.
Can we arrange a private date?
Yes. Existing groups can contact Chris to discuss a different date and their preferred adventure.
When is the December weekend?
The published start is Friday 18 December 2026. The original listing calls its end “Sunday 21 December”, but 21 December 2026 is a Monday. The end date needs confirmation; ask Chris before making travel plans.
How do I try a free online taster?
Choose the free online taster option and send Chris a WhatsApp enquiry to arrange a date. No taster date is currently listed on this website.
